Knee Replacement VS Stem Cell Therapy

People think that a knee replacement is the only way to treat knee pain and arthritis? Knee arthritis rates are skyrocketing and total knee replacement surgeries are skyrocketing too. About 600,000 surgeries are performed every year in the USA.

These surgeries are so common that it seems like everyone who has knee pain opts for knee surgery at some point in their life. However, what do we know about these surgeries? What does the procedure entail? What are the side effects? How effective is knee replacement in treating symptoms?

First of all, knee surgery requires the patient to be completely unconscious. The surgeon will open the knee up from the front and amputate the bone at the bottom and top of the joint. Then a metal prosthesis is inserted into both the thigh and lower leg bone with a plastic surface between the two to promote smooth movement.

The patient can then resume normal activities in as little as a few months or as long as a year.

This clip goes on to say that people view a knee replacement like replacing a part on your car. People know that when your tire is worn out then you put on a new tire. They take this same mindset and assume the same procedure will work for their knee. After all, if the part is bad shouldn’t you just replace it? The answer is no!

If you replace a tire, your engine doesn’t get affected. However, if you replace your knee your body can have severe reactions called side effects.

The body is a complex biological system and large changes to this system, such as surgery, can have devastating effects. These effects can harm other unrelated parts of the body.

Effectiveness of Knee Replacement Surgeries

After a knee replacement surgery, your risks include:

  • A 200-300% increase in the risk of bleeding stomach ulcers
  • A 3100% increase in heart attack risk for the two weeks after knee replacement surgery
  • And in 2008 the National Hospital Sapling System indicated that there were 5000 deaths due to knee replacements.

There have also been recent studies showing how knee replacements actually shed tiny pieces of metal into the bloodstream. At this time there are no known effects of this, however, who wants metal in their bloodstream?

Let’s look at how effective knee replacement surgeries are. A recent study shows that only half of the patients reported improvement after a knee replacement. Patients who are heavy-set and who have extreme cases of arthritis have the least chances of a successful knee replacement.

Stem Cell Therapy

A non-surgical alternative to knee replacement surgery is stem cell therapy.

Stem cells have the ability to transform into other cells that they come in contact with.

The reason why you have arthritis pain is because you have worn down the cartilage in your knee. The cartilage is the rubbery tissue that keeps the bones from rubbing. The rubbing causes pain and arthritis.

If you have some cartilage left in your knee then an introduction of stem cells into the knee may promote regeneration of the cartilage. This regeneration may alleviate your pain and give you mobility.

With stem cell therapy there is no surgery, you can be awake throughout the procedure and you can even be back to using your knees at FULL intensity in as little as a week!

After hearing the truth about knee replacement surgery, it’s strange why someone wouldn’t want to learn more about stem cell therapy.
